Located on CSX's Richmond to Newport News, VA Mainline, the rooms are perpendicular to the tracks, with the back of the hotel less than 100 feet away. Pine trees have overgrown the embankment between the hotel and the right of way. Views are limited, you need to request one of the last 2 rooms of the 3rd or 4th floor, on the west side of the hotel. The view will allow you to see on comming east bounds. There are no crossings in the area, so a scanner is necessary. There are plenty of places for the family to eat and shop nearby as this is a tourist destination.

The Family Inns in Williamsburg, VA is located at the intersection of US Route 60 and Airport Road. It is on the CSX line that runs to Newport News, VA. Amtrak's Ol'Dominion, and Twilight Shoreliner run through there. The track runs right past the front entrance to the hotel. The track can be seen from virtually all rooms at this property. Numerous freights also run through here with coal for export overseas.
