Staying at the new Fairfield Inn will allow you to see the 4 Lycoming Valley Railroad (LVRR) through trains daily on weekdays, coming from Newberry Yard over NS trackage to Northumberland yard. On M-W-F you can see the local into Williamsport Wirerope and other local businesses. The Norfolk Southern Buffalo line can be seen at a distance across the W. Branch of the Susquehanna River
Also of interest: LVRR accesses Williamsport Wirerope by crossing a very interesting draw bridge that is lowered to allow locals in to WWR property. (Under the drawbridge is a cable stretcher used when the RR is not using the in plant trackage.) 3 blocks north of the Fairfield Inn, at the end of Maynard street is a new railroad muesuem with a restored PRR passenger car.
