Seven floors. Floors six and seven offer nearly the same view as the Radisson across the street (also described on this web site), but the Hilton is a bit less expensive. Free high speed internet (wired). No continental breakfast, but restaurants exist within the premises. Rollaway beds are an additional $15 per night. As of 12-20-04 there was no on-site parking. A new parking garage is being built across the street, but for now valet parking ($2) is your only option. The Steamtown Shopping Mall is an easy two block walk, but the Steamtown proper entrance is several blocks further down Lackawanna Ave, so you will want to drive. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The room and facilities were clean. You can find significantly less expensive hotels in this area as there's nothing remarkable about this location -- or the Radisson -- when it comes to train frequency. We saw one go up the branch line and back each day. Steamtown trains do run pass this location during regular excursion season, though

Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel Scranton

I stayed at the Radisson Lackawanna Station hotel in Scranton, PA recently. What a beautiful place. Completely by chance I was assigned room 631, at the rear right corner of the top floor--with a perfect view in two directions of the tracks used by CP, Delaware-Lackawanna, and Steamtown. Rooms are pricey, but then this is a really nice hotel. You can get reasonably priced lunches at the Trax bar on ground level, which also features trackside windows.

The Hotel features Carmen’s Restaurant, located in the main waiting room on ground level, offers fine dining and cocktails. A very nice venue to celebrate a successful weekend. Nearby is the Lackawanna County Trolley Museum, the trolley rides through the Laurel Line Tunnel, and pass directly behind the hotel. Trolleys board from the Steamtown boarding platform, within reasonable walking distance of hotel. Best pedestrian access to Steamtown/Trolley is through the Steamtown Shopping Mall on Lackawanna Avenue, then from inside Mall via pedestrian skybridge right to boarding platform.
