I am the Chief Concierge at The Truckee Hotel, as well as a train fan. A guest informed me of your site and I would like you to know that I am impressed. Here is a list of the rooms that have a view of the tracks and the railroad crossing, there are additional rooms that have a partial view:

Second Floor: 202 (E) - 204 (E) - 207 (A)
Third Floor: 301 (E) - 304 (E)
Fourth Floor: 401 (E)

(Note: American (A) style rooms have a private bath with a claw foot tub. European Style (E) rooms have a shared bath in the hall. Continental breakfast is included.)

100 + year-old typical "old west" hotel, good restaurant, nice rooms. 1/2 block away from UP (former SP) main, Amtrak station, yard, etc. See flangers and rotary parked nearby, watch the busy parade of traffic over Donner Pass. 5 mins. off I-80, easy access to great photo locations on both slopes of mountain. About 13-15 UP freights a day, plus a couple of BNSF freights. Two Amtrak California Zephyrs (one each way) per day
